RESIDENTIAL SOLAR

WHY GO SOLAR?

Every month, you pay the electric company for power you’ll never own. It’s like rent that never ends, and it’s only getting more expensive. At the same time, the power grid is aging and outages are more common than ever. Solar changes that. It lets you make your own electricity from a free, reliable source: the sun.

EXPLORE THE BENEFITS

Lower Your Bills

Instantly lower your electricity costs and protect yourself from rate hikes. With solar, you replace an unpredictable bill with a more stable, long-term investment in your own home. Over time, the savings add up to thousands of dollars.

Take Control Of Your Power

When you have solar, you’re not at the mercy of the power company’s prices or policies. Your home produces its own electricity, right from your roof. That means you have more control over your energy future and less dependence on a system that can change without your say. It’s the difference between owning and renting. Ownership gives you stability, predictability, and control.

Stay Powered, Whatever the Weather

The U.S. power grid is aging, and storms, heat waves, and accidents cause more outages every year. By adding battery storage to your solar investment, you can keep your lights on, your fridge cold, and your family comfortable when the grid goes down.

Boost Your Home’s Value

Solar is one of the few home upgrades that pays you back. Independent studies show that homes with solar sell faster and for more money. Home buyers love the idea of moving into a home with lower energy costs from day one.

Better for the Planet

Solar power is clean, renewable, and abundant. Over 25 years, a typical residential solar system can offset thousands of pounds of carbon pollution! That’s the equivalent of planting hundreds of trees or avoiding tens of thousands of miles in a gas-powered car.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Solar is simpler than it sounds. Your panels collect sunlight and turn it into electricity for your home. If your system makes more energy than you use, that energy is sent to the electric grid. Your utility gives you credits for it, which covers the cost of any power you pull from the grid.

If you have battery backup, the extra solar power your panels make during the day will also charge the battery. At night or during an outage, the battery powers your home so you can keep the lights on, the fridge cold, and your family comfortable.

Either way, your solar system works every day to lower your electric bill and give you more control over your power.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

The three main ways that our customers pay for solar are cash, financing, and PPAs. Exact Solar offers very competitive, ethical financing options, in addition to a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) that we helped negotiate through our membership in Amicus Solar Cooperative. Schedule a free consultation to review side-by-side options and find the best fit for your home.

Solar is designed to replace your utility expense with a more predictable cost for the energy you own. In most cases, homeowners see a significant reduction in their total monthly energy cost.

Not always. During your free assessment, we review roof age, material, and condition. If a replacement makes sense, we can coordinate roof work and solar together so you do the project once and are fully protected.

No. We use engineered mounting systems with proper flashing to protect the roof. Panels sit above the surface so water can flow under them. Our workmanship warranty covers roof penetrations related to our installation.

Most residential installations take one to three days once permits and utility approvals are complete. We handle all paperwork, coordinate inspections, and keep you informed. Noise and disruption are minimal.

Standard grid-tied systems turn off during an outage for line worker safety. By adding battery backup to your system, you can power selected circuits, such as lights, outlets for phone charging, the refrigerator, and heating or cooling essentials.

No. Most homeowners start with solar only, since your system will still reduce or replace your electric bill without one. A battery is optional, but it adds backup power during outages and gives you more control over when and how you use your energy. If you’d like, we can design your system so a battery can be added later, making the upgrade simple when the time is right.

Yes. Solar panels produce energy year-round, even during the winter and on cloudy days. While output is lower during those times, your system is designed with seasonal changes in mind. With net metering, any extra energy your system generates on sunny days is sent to the grid, and you earn credits with your utility. Later, when your system produces less, you use those credits to offset the power you draw from the grid. It’s a give-and-take that helps balance your energy use over the course of the year.

Yes. Solar energy systems can easily handle high-energy demands, such as electric vehicle (EV) charging. Solar energy systems are designed to meet every home’s unique needs. If homeowners have an EV, their solar energy system just needs to be sized to meet their power consumption.

We custom-design every system that we install. Advanced modeling helps us place panels for the best performance on complex roofs. For historic or highly visible homes, we can consider less visible roof planes, detached structures, or a ground mount.

Modern panels are available in low-profile and all-black options, which blend well with most roofs. Independent studies actually show that homes with solar often sell faster and at a premium because buyers value lower energy costs.

Very little. Panels have no moving parts. Most systems run for decades with minimal upkeep. You will have monitoring to track performance, and our in-house service team is available if you ever need help.

No. Most systems are grid-tied, which gives you reliable power day and night. If you prefer more independence, we can add a battery or discuss off-grid design, but it is not required.

Most HOAs allow solar with reasonable design guidelines. We provide professional plans and work directly with your HOA to streamline approval.

Modern solar panels are designed to produce energy for 25 years or more.

For most homes in our region, rainfall is enough to keep panels clear of dust and debris. If extra cleaning is needed, it’s minimal, and we’ll guide you on when, or if, that makes sense.

Unlike some installers, Exact Solar will not disappear after your installation. We’ve been around for over 20 years, and we don’t plan on going anywhere. Our in-house service team is available for monitoring, maintenance, and repairs whenever you need us. And if your system was installed by another company that’s no longer around, our Solar Orphan Service® is here to help! Click here to submit a service request.

Yes, Exact Solar offers a 10-year workmanship guarantee to stand behind the integrity of our installations and the correct application of the products we install. Additionally, our solar panels and components are covered under a manufacturer’s warranty for 25 years.
